I am a secretary who wishes to start my own business working at home. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has either done the same or has knowledge of it. I would like to find out how to get started, the best tips for getting the word out. I do not have a car, so I also would need to know if anyone has any ideas on customers getting the work to you and delivering it. Thanks.

I was a secretary many years ago and when I wanted to work at home I started my own clerical business. I came up with a name for my business and printed up business cards. I started by contacting other business like this in my area to see what the going rates were for different work then I priced mine comparably. I would just go in and ask for a price list or if something quick came up I would call them, tell them the work that needed doing and asked them approximately how much would they charge - of course they thought the work was mine. I’m not sure they would have given me a price if they knew I was doing the same work they were doing.

I purchased Microsoft Office and a Word Perfect Program because I wanted to contact Law Offices that might outsource work to me and they all used Word Perfect. I bought a good computer and since I couldn’t afford a laser printer I got a good ink jet printer that mimicked a laser printer.

To advertise I went to small neighborhood printers, told them what I was doing and several of them passed their customers on to me and they allowed me to put up a flyer advertising my business. I went to Law Offices, dentist offices, catering halls, day cares, any place that might have a need for temporary typist and because they were in my area getting to them was a breeze - one even dropped stuff off to me in the evening on their way home and picked it back up the next morning. I even put up flyers in supermarkets, pharmacies, schools, any place that would allow me.

I kept that business for 5 years and although I no longer have the business, one client I developed was the president of a retirement club and I continue to do her yearly mailing list/membership drive down to this day. Keep in touch with past clients with postcards, flyers, etc.

If you have any other minor questions, you can contact me at bestimpressionfirst@att.net.

Have fun and most of all be accurate.

How to find work at home jobs?

Written by admin on February 3rd, 2010 in Work at Home.

I have been searching for a work at home or online join which will provide some type of income while I am traveling. I have a decent computer and skype.

You can only obtain legitimate work from home positions from brick and mortar companies.

You want to send your resume out to companies hiring for positions you are qualified for, but include in your resume that you have a home office and you wish to work remotely. Include how you have your home office set up and what equipment you already have in order for you to perform your job.

These jobs are just going to advertised as jobs, they would not promote them as "work at home" because they would hear from too many unqualified people.

I need to know where to get a good website or how to build one, any suggestions?

I suggest you learn from the experts in your selected field by modeling their site designs. Enter your specialty in a search engine, then visit the site that come out high in the search results. those in the organic search result will tend to have original helpful text content that the search engines judges as valuable. While the paid search results at the top and right of google results will tend to show more direct sale pitches, though quality score requirements now force them to include some relevant useful stuff.

Some free blog services allow you to use the blog for marketing, check their TOS.

It’s easiest to get search ranking for a narrow specific niche, it’s even helpful to include the subject in the domain name. To rate free search engine traffic you would need to create original articles on the subject, perhaps 6 for starters, then continue to add new content a coupe of times a week. A site attracting decent traffic might make a little on the side from adsense and banner ads.

Various incentives have been used to entice visitors to buy through your link instead of the competitors. Throwing in a plr book is of marginal value. Providing original valuable bonus material, like a 10 page supplement that fills in the low points of the affiliate product might attract more attention. Some people go a far as offering affiliate buyers support, like configuring websites, reviewing their site design.

I want reputable companies like Clickbank. I would especially want to market magazines of all sort. Also if you know of magazines I can promote directly from the publisher the better. I prefer payment via paypal. Where do I get such products or programs with them?

Have you considered having your own digital storefront. It is free to join and a low cost to upgrade and fully customize if you wish to later. Everything you need is in one place and the help and information is outstanding. I use this storefront as a supplement to my blog.

Do subdomains work for affiliate marketing?

Written by admin on February 2nd, 2010 in Affiliate Marketing.

I want to start my own affiliate marketing website. Will anyone visit a subdomain website like weebly? If people do visit how do I get people to go to my website? What would be a good idea for a subdomain website anyway?

You need to get links to your website out on the internet. The best way to do that is through article marketing — and it doesn’t cost anything either. Check out this article and the link at the bottom to WAU. WAU is just about the best resource on the net for affiliate marketing and driving traffic for your campaigns.

After years of having his drivers license revoked from a DUI my brother got a special driving permit.

His permit allows him to drive to and from work.

I am relieved because he has expected family members to taxi him around and we are all tired of it. But now I am concerned. HIs permit says it is for driving to work. It does not say anything about going to the store. But he gets tempted to make a few stops on the way home, stopping at a store or a video rental place that is on the way. I am worried he could get in trouble because his permit says it is just for work and we had an argument about it. I don’t want him to take any risks that would get him in trouble, but the thinks if it is on his regular driving route it shouldn’t matter. Does it?
ok I know he’s a jerk. But the question is, would this be a violation of the permit if the place of business is on the very road he takes home from work, at the right time (on the way home from work). We are having a disagreement about weather it is a violation. I need to know if it is.

Depend on what the restrictions are, going to grocery is well within reason. The restrictions should be in a booklet, or papers they gave him .

Yes you can but it’s getting more difficult.

Squidoo is getting stricter and there are many product categories that they discouraged.
examples:
- pharmaceutical
- weight loss and dieting
- medical cures for yeast infection, snoring, hair loss, augmentation, asthma etc
- getting ex back
- gambling and poker
- ringtone
- credit card debt, cash gifting, envelope stuffing, mortgages, currency trading, Forex,

We need to make content-rich Squidoo lens to make them happy. Do not stuff the lens with too many affiliate links.

How do I find a work at home job?

Written by admin on January 23rd, 2010 in Work at Home.

I have to stay at home to take care of old, disabled relative. It is no longer possible to get along on what we get in social security and disability payments.
I can type, have printer.
I have looked on the net to find work at home jobs, but all I have found want payments for information to go to others places that require payments, etc.
If I had payments I probably would not need a job.
Please help.
